A technical writer is often the bridge between software engineers who create programs and the end users. A technical writer turns complex words and features into easy-to-understand instructions. This position is an entry-level opportunity for a bright, eager, intelligent individual who enjoys teamwork and helping to create world class products. The Associate Technical Writer is responsible for:Learning to use technical writing tools that are required by the product and becoming familiar with the Avaya style guide. Learning and employing GIS and R&D processes and tools required of a technical writer.Writing content as described in the Documentation Strategy and Design plan and Content Plans. Correcting poorly written content either by oneself or as directed by Document Manager (DM), and/or document lead.Working with team lead or DM to conduct research to obtain information from written material, conversations and interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and system usage to write and maintain clear, concise, and accurate information. Working with team lead or DM to create content plans for assigned deliverables.Communicating with DM and document lead about potential problems and current status of documentation.Developing and maintaining a good rapport with R&D SMEs. Working with team lead or doc manager to manage writing assignments. Working with document lead or DM to manage reviews of assigned information deliverables, incorporate feedback, provide Toolkit disposition for all comments, and resolve problems based on review feedback. Following documentation testing process.General work is directed by the team lead or DM. Technical Writer may work alone on a simple project or with others on a more complex project. Required Skills:• Basic knowledge of English grammar• Able to write content using the authoring tool required of project (e.g., FrameMaker, WebWorks, Adept Editor, etc) with help from others• Openness and aptitude to learn how to write in a topic-based architecture • Computer knowledge• Openness and aptitude to develop interviewing and communication skills• Team player• Well organized• Ability to learn and eventually convey technical information• Openness and aptitude to learn how to writer from a user's perspective1. Degree in Science, Humanities, Engineering, English, Technical Communication, or Journalism (or equivalent)2. Demonstrated analytic, written, and oral communication skills
