Visit our website at www.questrade.com Position Title Business Technical Analyst Job Summary Reporting to the Team Lead, Business Production Support the Business Technical Analyst is part of a team responsible for Questrade's Trading platforms. The Analyst provides expert support to Trading, Back Office & Compliance departments. Responsibilities include monitoring trading, data interfaces and front end servers, critical start & end of day processes, providing on-demand trade support to internal trading departments and working closely with external vendors, trading venues and internal IT department for variety of functions including reporting, troubleshooting, upgrades & maintenance cycles and for new implementations.The successful incumbent is able to effectively merge trading with technological knowledge and skills obtained through years of relevant industry experience. Job Responsibilities A· Daily, ensure applications are functioning as expected: connected to exchanges, orders are working correctly, and accurate market data is being receivedA· Using a variety of tools and methods, monitor trading & market data gateways and front-end serversA· Conduct investigations with routing and executing venues during outages affecting electronic tradingA· Troubleshoot and correct technology issues at the application & connectivity levelA· Troubleshoot FIX messages affecting connectivity, routing or order flowA· Engage in daily administrative tasks including market data entitlement reporting, order inquiries, trade file generation, and compliance reportingA· Quickly identify hardware, operating system and networking issues; escalate to the Information Technology Group for resolutionA· Complete detailed and accurate Incident Reports for outages affecting production systemsA· Participate in Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing for upgrades and new releasesA· Participate in process improvements and modifications to existing systemsA· Provide timely updates via regular meetings and electronic reports. Participate in discussions as subject matter expertA· Keep up to date on industry developments and bring relevant issues to the attention of othersQualifications MUST HAVE:A· 3 plus years of networking experience, preferable in the investment industryA· Working knowledge of connectivity infrastructure, including TCP/IP, firewalls, and network connectivity providersA· 1 plus year experience in a QA role working with scripts and acceptance testingA· Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systemsA· Excellent problem solving skills A· Experience with Software Development Life Cycle A· Working on a flexible time schedule outside of normal working hours. Willingness to start early or stay late, as requiredA· Strong communications skills both verbal and written for a client facing role A· Deliver consistent results whilst working under pressureA· Proven team player A· Excellent time-management and organizational abilities NICE TO HAVE:A· Knowledge of online brokerage operations A· Hands-on experience with Market Data including Security Master, CUSIP, Reference & Real Time Market Data Feeds A· An understanding of FIX protocol, and ability to troubleshoot FIX ordersA· Canadian certifications for equities and options (CSC, DFC, OLC)
