Our client, a leader in its domain, is looking for a Technology Director to start ASAP. The Director of Technology is in charge of the daily and long term operation of the R&D department in terms of technology vision, strategic planning, and management of IT staff. This management position is considered a pillar function within our technology orientedcompany.Responsibilities- Performs strategic planning and management of R&D resources and allocation of efforts- Decides the organizational structure of R&D, sets job descriptions and managesteam size as needs evolve- Manages a team of 20+ managers, engineers and computer scientists- Implements and enforces structure and processes optimizing communication andinteraction with other departments- Spearheads innovation through brainstorming and technology investigation- Maintains product roadmaps and sets development priorities- Initiates new Internet and software products and enhancements to meet existing or anticipated market needs- Determines product specifications and product requirements documents- Writes and files patent applications as well as manages the relation with company’s intellectual property lawyers- Interfaces with partners to identify areas for collaboration and contributes to commercial andtechnical agreements- Presents products and services to large customers and partners; collaborates closely with Business Development for scoping and defining customer/partner requirements- Prepares and manages R&D’s capital and expense budgets- Prepares and files R&D’s Tax credit reportsRequired Skills and Knowledge- Technological creativity and vision- Strong verbal and written communication skills- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to build teams and influence at all levels of theorganization- Strong problem solving and analytical skills- Broad business knowledge, and significant, in-depth knowledge of technology industry,products and processes- Strong technical background in computer and software technology- Fluency in French and EnglishRequired Experience- Minimum 10 years experience in the technology field (software and/or networking)- Minimum of 5 years experience in management of staff- Minimum bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field- A completed graduate degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or related field would be a definite plus
