For our client, who is in the alternative energy market, we are looking for an Engineering Manager. Our client has developed a "Sunlighting" technology that delivers natural light throughout commercial buildings to replace electric lighting whenever the sun shines. Integrated collection units harvest sunlight on the building facade and specialized light fixtures deliver the sunlight, improving lighting quality and reducing energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy self sufficiency/security. The client's technology is the first lighting system capable of providing cost-effective natural sunlight throughout commercial buildings. The client's proprietary design uses inexpensive, proven, building materials and optical films to deliver natural sunlight at costs below electric light - an industry milestone. Responsibilities:• Providing leadership and mentorship for approximately 6 engineers • Creating visual indicators depicting real time project status • Developing standardized fabrication procedures and instructions • Tracking and analyzing manufacturing and fabrication efficiencies • Conducting project management activities and facilitating continuous improvement strategies • Implementing optimization strategies to streamline design procedures • Compiling and evaluating test and production data • Improving and/or automating fabrication techniques by designing, recommending for purchase, or building new or improved machines, tooling, fixtures, gauges, etc. • Producing various engineering documentation • Providing support with technical issues related to the interpretation of engineering documentation Qualifications: • A University Degree or College Diploma with equivalent work experience • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude • Strong oral and written communication skills • Exceptional hands-on mechanical and electrical skills • Proven ability to take initiative, while being open to direction and guidance • Able to organize, plan and prioritize work - handle ambiguity and multi task • Skilled at driving internal and external cross group collaboration • Willingness to take ownership and drive projects through to completion • Motivation to develop paradigm-shifting insight and innovation • Accomplished decision making and problem solving skills • Ability to thrive in a fast paced fluid environment with varied tasks • Commitment to continuous improvement and passion for success Assets • Knowledge of electric and natural lighting techniques • Knowledge of optical systems • Knowledge of optical machining and polishing techniques • Experience in fabrication and manufacturing of active optical systems • Knowledge of motors and mechanical support structures • Knowledge of commercial building products, specifically: Commercial light fixtures; Ceiling systems; Building envelope systems • Experience using 3D solid modeling software, such as SolidWorks • Proficient knowledge of various typical computer applications including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Project; Adobe Acrobat
