Responsibilities:• Applicants must have hands on involvement in applications software development with exposure to the whole development lifecycle - from analysis of business requirements, design and implementation of software solutions, through to post live support. • Individuals will work across a variety of projects and will be expected to take responsibility for either whole projects, or areas of projects, with the emphasis on self direction and personal innovation. • At any one time a developer may be involved in one or many projects. Therefore the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment is essential.• Building new functionality for some of the largest e-commerce gaming systems in the world • Producing robust, clear, polished code in a short amount of time• Designing solutions that are modular, scalable, extendable and portable• Working with customers to extract requirements and agree the best designsExperience:• At least 3 years of post-graduate programming experience. • Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms, performance). Strong open source technology experience. Someone who likes tackling problems is more important than knowledge of specific languages. • Familiarity with designing and developing with at least one of the following databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Informix, or Oracle• Solid understanding of Unix and/or Linux• Experience using version control systems (Subversion, CVS, etc.)• Functional programming (e.g. Prolog, Haskell, Scheme). • Scripting languages e.g. Perl, TCL, JSP, Java Server Faces, ASP• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken• Honors (or Distinction-level undergraduate) Degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics -- or associated subjects.
