For our client, a major telecommunications company, we are looking for an Macro RF Design Engineer to join their Toronto team. This is a 12-15 months contract.Specific RF Engineering requirements for macro network design: • Good general RF knowledge with emphases on CDMA2000 and WCDMA standards• 5 years of experience in RF Design, including strong experience with site acquisition policies. Analyze existing coverage with industry standard tools to identify the needed coverage enhancements (design changes or new cell sites). Deliver RF design by selecting the best feasible site candidate/location, antenna attributes (location, height, model, azimuth, tilt), technology compatibility strategy and multi technology antenna strategies. Calculate link budget and system noise figure. Justify the design with calibrated propagation studies and with technology specific network simulations using industry standard tools. Deliver the RF data fill design including handover parameters/ strategies and cell attributes.• 5 years of experience with one or more tools: Mentum Planet EV, Aircom Asset and Forsk Atoll. Experienced in model tuning based on drive test data. Candidate should be able to select, calibrate (with field data) and validate the propagation models. Experienced on UTRAN simulations.• 2 years UTRAN design experience. Understand the specific technologies worked on (iDEN, CDMA, EvDO, UTRAN, etc.) and the impact on the design. Strong experience with multi-port antennas and strategy.• Perform the initial optimisation after coverage enhancements (design changes or new cell sites) by adjusting, if needed, the tilt, azimuth, data fill parameters.General skills:• Proficient with Mapinfo• Safety code 6 calculation experience (EMF Visual preferred)• Great English written and spoken communication skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work efficiently in a team.• Strong leadership, team and project management skills and experience with a variety of technical projects and programs. • Ability to drive engineering projects autonomously and produce quality project and technical documents.• At least a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in telecom or equivalent degree
