The Middleware Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting middleware technology across mainframe and distributed system platforms. The incumbent will design and propose technical strategies by evaluating information technology trends. The Specialist will install, tune and monitor middleware interfaces that facilitate the timely exchange of essential business information with internal and external counterparties. The Specialist also installs, tunes, maintains and monitors transaction processing software across multiple platforms. The Specialist will work independently and will provide solutions and guidance to a level I, II Specialist as required.THE ROLE:The Middleware Specialist supports third party middleware software products such as WebMethods, Websphere, IBM Tivoli Identify Manager and Tivoli Access Manager.The Middleware Specialist will provide technical expertise, support, design and development of appropriate IT solutions and architectures for the middleware software.The Middleware Support Specialist also supports transaction processing software products, such as Customer Information Control Systems (CICS), IBM MQ and IBM TX Series Software.The Specialist must also be prepared to support specific application systems, such as SWIFT and Peoplesoft.The Specialist must provide dependable middleware solutions across production, development and test systems.The Specialist must maintain currency in applicable software products, and must be able to identify and recommend emerging technologies within the middleware messaging technologies.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provide 7X24 support (rotational on-call) for the middleware messaging environments (MQ, Websphere, TX Series and WebMethods etc)2. Plan, install, configure, tune and maintain middleware and transaction processing software.3. Provide the ability to solve complex analytical technical problems independently. 4. Provide application developers with technical assistance with design, applicationintegration, debugging and performance tuning for middleware and transactionprocessing solutions. 5. Identify, evaluate and recommend improvements to middleware and transactionprocessing solutions. 6. Translate business requirements into technical solutions utilizing middleware andtransaction processing capabilities that meet the strategic business goal.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. 24 hour support of all middleware processing systems. 2. Minimize Risk and Security exposures to middleware and transaction processingsolutions. 3. Participate in the development of new middleware processing solutions. 4. Ensure the integrity of middleware processing systems in the production, developmentand test environments.KNOWLEDGE:Java programming language and J2EE framework Experience with wM products suite will be an asset (IS, Broker, Optimiser, TN, MywebMethods, CentraSite, Broker) EAR, WAR and JAR files. Java Virtual Machine (JVM) settings and options including classpath, HEAP sizes, Java. Websphere, Weblogic J2EE application Administration, Basis, Unix administration,webMethods Integration server 7.1.2, 8.x, Broker, Trading Networks, MywebMethodsServer, CentraSite, Xbroker, Current knowledge of secure web services: privacy, firewalls, encryption, and SSL ,ZEKE, REXX, ACR, SAS, RACF, TMONEXPERIENCE:1. Solid technical skills in Unix, Mainframe, Linux and P/C computers systems and their operating environments.2. Experience in installing, maintaining, supporting, tuning and maintaining messaging middleware and transaction management software.3. Certification of webMethods / weblogic/ websphere Administration is an asset 4.
