JUNIOR SYSTEMS ANALYST -- NETWORK SUPPORT TEAMINFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (ITS)IT Services requires a regular, full-time confident, customer-oriented, resourceful and enthusiastic Junior Systems Analyst to function as part of our Network Support Team. This position works under general direction or occasional supervision (where a definite objective is set, requiring the employee to proceed on their own initiative, with clearly defined checkpoints for review), and will be responsible for providing operational support related to network deployment, operation, trouble-shooting, and repair across the various campuses of BCIT. We have a rich professional development culture providing unprecedented opportunities for all team members.As a member of the Network team within the IT Services Department, this full-time position will provide support in locations (including labs) at all the main campuses. Duties of this position will include:• Deployment of Network equipment and updating of the related hardware inventory management system • Troubleshooting of the BCIT Network infrastructure at all campuses, including coordination of warranty work with the service provider• Incident and problem determination, documentation, resolution and escalation• Problem determination and support services using remote tools, such as WireShark, Fluke Analyser, etc. and/or at the client/switch location• Transport of Network related equipment to required sites• Developing, documenting and improving support procedures and processesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Institute of Technology Diploma, or bachelor's degree in science or business; and a minimum of two years current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience• Must have demonstrated general IT knowledge• Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service• Effective oral and written communication skills• Proven analytical and problem solving skills• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task, while meeting strict deadlines• Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams• Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques• Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)• High level of professionalism and ethicsOTHER QUALIFICATIONS THAT WOULD BE AN ASSET:• Recent experience supporting wired and wireless Network infrastructure running on a variety of media types, including structured cabling, fibre optics, etc.• Demonstrated customer service experience• Familiarity with commonly used operating systems such as Linux, Windows, etc. • Exposure to Network protocols such as TCP/IP• Experience using incident tracking software in an enterprise environment• Ability to work under pressure in providing a timely service to a wide range of customers• Ability to multi-task, with strong organizational skills• Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate change requirements• Ability to work overtime including weekends, early mornings, and evenings • Some familiarity with VOIP technology• Familiarity with the OSI network layered model• Current valid driver's license and vehicle for travel to remote campuses • Certification such as CCNA, CNE, Juniper Certification, Microsoft preferredSTART DATE: ASAPSALARY RANGE: $43,082 to $54,833 per annum (Placement based on education and experience)COMPETITION NUMBER: 11ST100CLOSING DATE: April 29, 2011BCIT offers a competitive salary, generous benefits package and promotes an inclusive workplace.
