14 months Contract start March 2011 endind June 2012Key responsibilities involve payroll production for specific business units in Canada and USA, working closely with Data Management, Human Resource Advisor's (HRA), Benefits, Compensation, Accounting, JD Edwards (JDE) Super Users and an external payroll system provider (Ceridian). This opportunity will appeal to those individuals with developed interpersonal skills, who have demonstrated success in achieving goals and enjoy working in a dynamic environmentResponsibilities:• operate as an integral part of the Payroll Team and have key responsibility for payroll production, Workers Compensation premium payments and year-end activity for specific business units and/or companies in Canada and USA • share your learning's and support team members as required in daily tasks or special projects • fully accountable to provide superior payroll services to a large contingent of business units • perform payroll updates to InSync and ensure data integrity • perform research and respond to third party audit inquiries on a timely basis • lead or participate in numerous projects • successfully work with various levels of management or diverse business units • accountable for running system interfaces between JDE HR and Ceridian payroll products • proactive and able to recognize potential issues and make sound recommendations Qualifications:• must be legally entitled to work in Canada • 5 to 7 years experience in a large complex company preferably Oil & Gas • enrolled in or completion of CPA payroll designation course preferred • international payroll experience is an asset • hands on experience with JD Edwards and InSync is preferred. Must be proficient with desk top tools (Excel, Word, PPT) • possess technical systems skills, as relates to payroll/HR, with third party payroll providers and HR/Payroll systems • solid understanding of payroll accounting and GL reconciliations • exceptional problem solving skills and analytical skills • highly organized with proven ability to manage competing priorities and high volumes in short time frames to meet established deadlines • strong understanding of payroll requirements to support SOX Process Control relative to payroll production • full understanding of the payroll cycle and relationships with other areas such as Benefits, Compensation, Tax • well developed interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills to deal with multitude of internal clients, suppliers and external payroll system providers
