Project Controls Manager, REF: 1103-19My client is the world's leading company in all major global steel markets, including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging.With leading R&D and technology, as well as immense supplies of raw materials and outstanding distribution networks they offer a presence in over 60 countries and four continents covering emerging and mature markets.Job Details & Key Objectives:As a key member of the Project Management team, based in Toronto, this position will report directly to the Project Director.We are seeking an applicant with significant experience in Project Controls / Project Services, with proven abilities working on Greenfield mining projects over $1Billion plus.Ideally the applicant will have experience working in heavy civil, ports, and mining developments with high Arctic exposure preferred. The Project Controls Project Services Manager is responsible for:• Oversee the project controls activities of EPCM and construction contractors• Providing strategic direction to project team in controlling, planning and economic/value management• Pivotal role in the development and execution of contracting strategies such that it is in line with the project scheduling and commercial controls• Development, monitoring and review of project schedule and budget / cost estimates • Establishing cost and project reporting / tracking systems• Analysing CapEx, spend v budget schedule and developing mitigation plans (if required)• Lead development and execution of contracting strategies ensuring alignment with project scheduling and commercial controls• Validation of feasibility studies and AFE submissions against schedules and budgets• Validate business model and develop/implement opportunities• Risk analysis and mitigation• Ensuring Safety considerations are built into scheduling activitiesEducationGraduate of business administration, finance or engineering. Post-graduate qualification desirableSkills and ExperienceProject controls and Planning experience on a $1 Billion plus projectProven track record of Project Controls -- specifically experience in Mining Green field projectsStrong experience of Scheduling, Commercial Controls and Costing modelsProven track record of Project Controls in a construction environmentExperience with cost / schedule control systems
