QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST -- CalgaryThe successful Quality Assurance Specialist candidate will have solid experience with testing automation tools. You will represent the QA department in a project team capacity, and will be responsible for quality advocacy, planning, implementation, testing and validation, quality reporting and metrics. Our ideal QA Specialist will be an active contributor in a collaborative team environment, and passionate about the quality of our work, our clients, and our culture.Responsibilities:• Act as QA representative on project teams• Monitor project compliance to standards and guidelines• Generate QA resource estimates• Verify that project documentation is sufficiently detailed to support development of QA materials• Develop product test plans, test scripts and checklists• Coordinate appropriate test environments, equipment, etc.• Perform integration, functionality, system, regression, load and acceptance testing using manual methods and testing tools• Perform server log file and database verification• Perform business and functional requirements verification• Detailed verification of product content and presentation• Record all test results, and completely document defects and system errors• Continually search out new technologies and processes to improve QA functions• Some administration of testing and QA tools• Training and mentoring others in the use of testing and QA tools and processesRequired Skills:• At LEAST 3 years experience in the following:• Software test automation tool (s)• Formal software test methods and Quality Assurance programs• Preparation or formal test plans, test cases and bug reporting• Formal testing techniques such as regression, integration, load, usability, etc.• Web testing experience• SQL experience• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills• Meticulous nature; displaying a penchant for detail and precision• Exceptional teamwork skills, sense of humour and a positive attitudeDesired Skills:• Experience with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and such)• Experience conducting or facilitating walkthroughs and inspections• Unix knowledge• Formal software testing training or certification
