Loblaw is committed to being socially responsible by respecting the environment, sourcing with integrity, making a positive difference in the communities it serves, reflecting the nation's diversity and being a great place to work.Loblaw has been recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers and Greenest Employers for 2010.All we need to continue our success is you.Job Overview:The Senior Design Lead - Capacity Planning role within the Infrastructure Capacity Planning and Performance Management team is the key lead for most of the team's critical functions:• Analyses of data from Production systems to provide upgrade and tuning recommendations, future growth needs, organic usage trending and requirements for business impacts.• Analyses of data from Development system to ensure adequate capacity for changes and releases.• Publish reports for all levels of customers (from support teams to Senior Executives) to provide diverse information used for troubleshooting, budgeting, up to strategic planning.• Perform analyses / provide recommendations to ensure optimal usage and consumption of all enterprise IT systems.• Publish reports for internal IT teams to track Service Levels and Business Value Metrics.• Participate in all Architectural boards, research tools and industry best practices to ensure continued support, monitoring and trending coverage for all new initiatives and technologies.• Ensure daily monitoring of systems for exceptions to provide early warning of issues before customers are impacted.• Review daily data collections for completeness, action gaps.• Create UNIX, AIX and VB Scripts to create reports and perform AD Hoc Analyses• Review daily exception reports to identify issue before customers impacted• Provide recommendations to internal teams to best balance and configure systems to provide contention-free operation while realising optimal use of enterprise systems.• Provide tuning recommendations for all covered systems.• Meet with internal IT teams to define metrics and determine collection methods and configurations.• Development methodology to track un-used system capacity for all systems, create reservation process, publish graphical reports for all areas (AIX, storage, Windows, etc).• Advise and recommend purchasing and budgeting requirements to ensure available capacity for new projects and organic growth.• Analyze data to create and publish Monthly and Quarterly trending and forecasting reports• Participation, support and leadership of SWAT teams• Develop and maintain Capacity Plans, including workload balancing options, recommended solutions, financial metrics, assumptions and technology refresh plans. • Publish Utilization Reports and provide weekly forecast demandsLeadership and people skills are extermely inportant as this position will interface regularly with a number of Internal Business units within Loblaw's IT division including: • IT Build teams and Solution Delivery teams: to understand new systems and environments, define data and ensure data collection, provide information critical to sizing of equipment (server/storage) and network connections.• IT Support teams: to trend usages, deliver troubleshotting and operations metrics, analyze problematics systems, provide Ad Hoc reports, and recommend remediations.• IT Configuration Management: collect and deliver up-to-the-minute configuration data.• IT Business Groups: Define custom metrics and PKIs, define and configure collecting and publishing• IT Application Owners: Determine key workload drivers, metrics, demands, future business requirementsn and new initatives, deliver monthly trends and quarterly capacity forecasts.• IT Leadership: Deliver usage reports, exception reports, capacity forecasting and budgetting requirements,
