This position will be responsible for ongoing implementations and support of Integration using the latest Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies and practices. This role is accountable for the performance, availability, success of rollouts and stability of the Enterprise Services Bus (ESB) framework which connects key applications and services. The role will push forward the strategic agenda for continued rollout, adoption and improvements of the ESB environment. The Sr. Manager -- Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) will ensure that development standards and best practices are deployed and adhered to for all the competing groups engaged with the service. (Internal Staff, Multiple Vendors, Project Teams, Support Teams, Stabilization teams) The Sr. Manager will supervise and manage the mixed team (in house, outsourced) who run daily operations and the production support for the environment.Accountabilities:Strategic • Participates in the building, training and growth of a highly effective ESB team that meets the requirements of Loblaw's.• Plans and manages the diagnosis/ assessment / correction of deficiencies within the environment• Co-ordinates the acceptance and run / operate of project driven additions into the environment.• Ensures environment availability 24x7• Ensures proper / complete business continuity plans for environment are in place.• Works with Infrastructure and other teams to ensures ESB technology requirements are met and address performance and security issues• Ensure compliance to configuration management and security best practices and standards across organization• In concert with established practices ensure alignment of Dev, QA and PRD controls, authorizations and promotions of new code, agents and changes• Develops, grows, manages departmental team members• Partners with other IT groups to collect and negotiate requirements, timelines, feedback, and communication around existing and planned framework capabilities• Maintains latest integration architecture patterns, publish and evangelized to encourage adaptation• Manages and maintain SOA service registry• Reviews Technical Requirements Documentation to ensure that the solution(s) meets the business need; work with the Solutions Delivery teams and other technology groups to deliver objectives and project deliverables• Develops and/or deploys integrated solutions that are built using mass-customized configuration templates that have been tested and proven across the Integration Services• Ensures that knowledge transfer has completed for all new interfaces / changes being introduced into the environment into the run / operate teams.• Ensures that all documentation / processes / procedures required for the ongoing operation of the service are catalogued, maintained and accurate within Loblaw's controlled systems.• Review and integrate all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements. Review and integrate the technical architecture requirements for the development, execution, and operations environments. Make all final decisions, either independently, or in collaboration with Infrastructure Support Services, regarding ESB and ETL hardware, network products, system software, and security as they impact the environments.?Management of Team• Acts as a positive role model, motivating employees, co-workers and the business group to promote a high performance technical and business focused team• Directs, manages and coaches employees, providing them with challenges, giving them the opportunity to learn and to be successful• Develops strong relationships with the Directors and Managers of IT to deliver strategic and effective ESB Services solutions.• Provides support to the IT Leadership Team and to technical staff to understand the scope and requirements to solve and deliver and when necessary, design and deploy interim solutions as pathways to the desired solution end-state; and integration of a standard development methodology and toolset for all IT projects• Develops educational plans and materials to ensure the absorption and acceptance of the standards and procedures by all IT staff and suppliers• Identifies recruits and maintains a team of highly qualified Specialists• Works very well with external consulting partners to develop solutions that are aligned with the overall strategy• Establishes processes, methodologies and tools needed to support the ESB• Develops experts in troubleshooting and performance tuning one or more technology products• Establishes 2nd level support in concert with Operations and their Incident/Problem Management practices• Provide front-line support to teams using the ESB/ETL environments. Work with the customer and end users to define application and technical requirements. Provide on-call support outside normal business hours as needed.Communication Internal/ External:• Keeps appropriate people informed and up to date, such as team members, senior management and the business on the status of projects• Works closely with their business contacts to understand the evolution of the business to ensure accurate planning and strategizing around technology• Where applicable, works with integration partnersQualifications:• Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex organizational initiatives involving multiple functions and multiple business units/regions; includes the identification and articulation of problems, influencing the decision-making process as well as delivery of expected results• Expertise in providing • Bachelor's degree, combined with 10 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years experience in one or more of the following: • IBM Websphere (or related)• SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (or related)• MetaStorm Integration Manager (or related)• 5 years of Project Management experience • 5 years of experience in managing mixed teams, which include in-house and offshore personnel.Preferred Skills• Full development lifecycle experience: requirements, design, build, test, deploy • Previous Consulting or client service delivery experience • Broad technical experience, across OS (Windows, UNIX), Database (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server), application server (J2EE, .NET) and other technologies (MQSeries, JMS etc.) • External client-facing consulting • Technical/Team Leadership Experience • Personnel Development Experience (hiring, resource planning, performance feedback, etc.) • Experience to structure and lead technical architecture implementation projects and on-going operations. • Capacity to provide technical leadership, including serving as a resource to project teams and the other LCL teams by evaluating and proposing technical alternatives for resolving business and technology issues. • Ability to map business requirements to technology capability. • Ability to review ongoing and proposed projects to identify opportunities for reuse and process improvement.• Attention to detail to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards. • Skills to consult with and develop technical resources for methods, procedures, and standards to use during design, development, and unit testing phases of the project.
