Position OverviewMicroserve's client requires a Senior Systems Analyst to join its team in Edmonton.BackgroundThe Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for architecture, design, development and implementation of new initiatives and enhancements to applications.Some of the responsibilities of the Senior Systems Analyst are to:• Understand requirements for IT Systems, including process, entity and use case models.• Consolidate and manage all business models into a consistent Business Architecture toensure rationalization and consistency of business requirements.• Responsible for the design, code, test, and analysis of applications in SharePoint and/orJava. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying softwarespecifications throughout the production lifecycle.• Troubleshoot system problems.• Responsibilities include but not limited to:• Design and develop functionality according to specifications• Debug applications and workflows• Design and develop Oracle views• Work in conjunction with Business Analysts, translating business needs into high-leveltechnical requirements/solutions.• Provide backup and support to other technical resources.RequirementsSkills:• Demonstrates a strong technical background.• Exercise judgement and initiative.• Able to take direction but also capable of working without supervision or direction.• Demonstrate attention to detail and quality of product and service.• Pro-active, self-directed individual who is able to work both independently and as part ofa team.• Be able to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple priorities.• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.• Proficiency with MS office applications including Visio.• Working knowledge of UML preferred.• Proficiency with MS office applicationsEducation and Experience:• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Science/Management orequivalent experience• Minimum 7 years in relevant experience fast paced high profile operational environment.• Minimum of 2 years direct experience in SharePoint development.• Experience with Java development an asset.• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and Integration Services.• Strong experience in all aspects of the software lifecycle including design and testing• Strong experience with SQL programming and relational databases.• Experience with large scale projects.• Experience with business intelligence tools, an asset.Contact UsIf you would like to discuss this opportunity or have any questions to ask, our IT Staffing Specialists would be happy to speak with you.
