The Agile Communication Environment (ACE) Core team in Ottawa is looking for a highly motivated recent graduate who wants to take their future to the next level. See: http://www.avaya.com/usa/product/avaya-agile-communication-environment The ACE Core platform provides middleware to communication-enable the web, based on the SOA architecture. We provide Parlay X based Web Service APIs "northbound" to web developers, and we manage the complexities of the telecommunication network on their behalf, via SIP-based "southbound" messaging. The simplest example is the ability to click-to-dial directly from a web page, but we do much more than that. Our ACE code is primarily written in Java, but we also do some scripting; XML; installers; and a very small amount of C/C++ coding. ACE is supported on a Linux platform and uses IBM WebSphere as the Application Server. We develop using Agile/Scrum methodologies and make use of many popular open-source tools in both our development environment and product. Responsibilities: • The successful candidate will work as part of a highly motivated and professional team developing and/ or supporting software that leverages Avaya's IP telephony Servers, Gateways, and Network Infrastructure to provide leading-edge business communications solutions for our customers. • The work will include learning and understanding requirements and technical specifications, and implementing designs using Java, on Linux-based systems. It may also include implementing designs at the OS level using various scripting languages for Linux-based systems.• The job includes working with others on feature quality teams to review, inspect, and integrate the team's designs. The developer is responsible for unit test and delivery of their software and will also apply their knowledge and skills to identify and resolve a wide variety of day-to-day technical and logistical issues.
