Their Network Operations Centre is distributed across multiple centres in diverse geographical locations worldwide. The OpportunityThis company is booming and is looking to add a Senior Linux Administrator to their Global Client Support Centre, which is responsible for interacting with clients around troubleshooting issues. You will be working on solving the same mission-critical challenges faced by global companies, such as Google or Amazon, around highly distributed, high-performance system infrastructure. As the technical lead for the support team, you will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and working to solve high-level troubleshooting issues around global infrastructure. Infrastructure-related incidents and support issues will be diagnosed remotely and with limited access to the equipment. Your responsibilities will include advising the project managers and stakeholders on support requirements and ensuring proper delivery of those requirements. In addition, you will support and mentor Client Support Centre members by coaching them through challenging technical issues, facilitating training on new products, and providing out-of-hours support on an on-call basis. We are looking with an individual with the following key skills: The ideal candidate will have experience working within a high-volume client/technical Linux environment, ideally in a service environment. Since you will be working in a collaborative environment, with both local and remote teams, a proven ability to work well within a team is essential. Similarly, an ability to stay self-directed and balancing an ever-changing workload are key.Key Qualifications:- Minimum 5 years of applied industry Linux experience supporting internet-facing services- Thorough knowledge of HTTP(S), SMTP, LDAP, DNS, NTP or other internet protocols is a must- Applied scripting knowledge (Bash or Shell) is required- Understanding of proxying technologies, such as Squid and/or Microsoft ISA Server is a strong asset- Experience with aspects of email services (i.e. TLS, Email Routing, or Anti-Spam) is a strong asset and experience with Unix-based email services, such as Qmail or Postfix, will be given preference. - Understanding of routing protocols and associated Cisco/Juniper hardware- Understanding of Firewall and load balancing technologies- Understanding of storage technology, such as NetApp or EMC is desired- Industry certifications (RHCE/CCNA/LPI) are desired, but not necessaryThis is truly a role where you can make a significant impact!If this opportunity sounds like a good fit for you, please send your resume to tamart@criticalhire.ca.
