Web Developer (2 Roles)Company OverviewOur client is one of the most highly trafficked websites in Canada, with over 20 Million users per month. They are rapidly expanding their development across multiple brand-new platforms to include android, IPTV, Xbox, tablets and mobile applications as well as a new content management system. In addition to new development initiatives, they are also in the process of overhauling and rebuilding their entire website design. This is truly an opportunity to build technology that will receive mass exposure and will expose its developers to the latest emerging technologies for multiplatform development in a state of the art facility. The OpportunityReporting to the Development Manager, this role assumes technical responsibility for design, creation, and maintenance of development initiatives across multiple new and existing platforms (websites, widgets, tablets, etc.) as well as integration and quality control of new product development into the existing infrastructure. The focus of the role will be client-side object-oriented web interface development in XML and JavaScript as well as web-page coding in HTML and CSS.Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with software development practices and techniques in a fast-paced commercial or consumer-oriented software development environment. The right candidate will have an ambition to contribute to new development projects on an on-going basis and will feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where emphasis is placed on meeting deadlines. Since you will be working in a collaborative environment, a proven ability to work well within a team is essential. As well, strong communication skills, both written and verbal are required, as is the ability to quickly analyze and solve complex problems. We are looking with an individual with the following key skills: - Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent. - Highly proficient in web programming languages, particularly HTML/XML, as well as PHP, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and JSON.- Extensive experience with Object-Oriented JavaScript and PHP- Strong knowledge of cross-browser DOM development - Knowledge of Object Oriented design patterns (i.e. MVC)- Understanding of Windows OS, Server and IIS- Understanding of Linux and Apache- Familiarity with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices- Knowledge of MS source control systems, such as Subversion and/or SourceSafe- Understanding of LAMP and WAMP systems - Experience building Web Services applications based on SOAP and RESTThe following skills will be considered an asset: - Knowledge of mapping system API's - Knowledge of software IDE's such as: Zend Studio, Visual Studio or Netbeans - Experience with languages such as JAVA and MySQL 5- Knowledge of open source FrameworksIf this opportunity sounds like a good fit for you, please send your resume to Tamar at: tamart@criticalhire.ca.
